We went 11-6-1 last week in CBB and 8-4-1 in the NBA to combine for a 19-10-2 week in basketball. That’s 65.5%. I’m giving you free money.
Cal Poly (+9) over SAINT MARY’S
I worked for a team in the Big West last year, so that’s why you might see more Big West games than anything else. Cal Poly is a grinder team and has been for years, but they have greatly improved their offensive efficiency this year. Saint Mary’s is a good team and are an efficient bunch themselves, but the only other team they’ve played that’s better than Poly was Cal two days ago and they lost a close one. I’m not telling you Poly is going to win the game, but both of these teams rate in the bottom 25% of the country in terms of pace. As I mentioned, the Gaels played two days ago. Meanwhile, Poly has had nine days off to rest up for this one. I expect a slow game and that should keep it fairly tight.
HAWKS-Heat under 191.5
Both of these teams are in the bottom third of the league in pace. The Heat are a much better defensive team than offensive. The Hawks rate almost identical on both ends, which is right about average for the league. Heat games have gone under in 17 of their last 21 games. Hawks games have hit the under in six straight games. When these two teams matchup, the under has hit in 10 of the last 14 games. Hope for a rock fight in this one.
GRIZZLIES-Wizards over 200
The Wizards play in up tempo style that puts them fourth in the league in pace. In their past six games, the lowest point total they’ve had is 212. For their part, the Grizzlies are still viewed as a defensive team, but they actually rank in the bottom half of the league in points allowed. The Wizards defense is even worse. Biggest concern with this one: Bradley Beal is still out.
