Scratched out both wins last night by the slimmest of margins. I promised myself I wouldn’t bet CBB totals this year and I went against it on night two. Let’s not do that again.
Another small slate this evening, so only two picks.
SANTA CLARA (-6) over UC Riverside
Riverside has been painfully bad on offense this year. Their only two wins have been over non-D1 opponents. The only reason they haven’t been one of the five worst offenses in the country this year is that they’ve taken care of the ball. Santa Clara turns people over. The Broncos haven’t been world beaters themselves this year, but they’ve been competitive with Top 100 teams and they have the clear-cut best player on the floor, Jared Brownridge.
Another thing to note: it’s been 13 days since UCR has played a game.
OREGON (-18.5) over Montana
I’d expect big days from Jordan Bell and Chris Boucher against the Grizzlies, whose tallest guy is 6-8. It’s going to be tough for Montana to get anything going near the rim against those two guys and I’d expect the Ducks as a whole to live in the paint at the other end. With the rate that Oregon blocks shots, it’s going to come down to how many perimeter shots Montana can knock down. They’re just okay in that category. Alabama was able to keep it close with the Ducks the other night because they can really guard, but the same doesn’t ring true for the Grizzlies.
Season: 3-3 (50.0%)
